Last week the new semester at the Tainan Community University started and this period will hold some challenges for me. As last semester I have the opportunity to attend some of the many classes offered here. Perhaps it is because humans are very liable to return to old habits, but I actually chose the same as last semester^^
Nevertheless, I am sure they will hold the same pleasure for me as they did before.
Some might think that Belly Dance, Mountaineering and Chinese Calligraphy are a somewhat strange mixture of courses, but my interests are manifold.
But back to the challenges: This semester I will be in charge of my own course, of course with the energetic and reliable support of my colleague and well experienced English teacher Passion, for which I am really grateful. The course is called European food discovery and the content is included in the title: I present some European countries and hopefully some of their culture to the students and then we will cook some typical dishes of the country discussed before.
Last Friday I held the first class and the students seemed all very interested and friendly, but this is actually always the case at the community university. I introduced the Netherlands to them and I was actually a bit surprised at hoe much they already knew about the country. Perhaps I shouldn’t have had the handouts handed out beforehand; their English must be quite good if they could trace the right information on the papers.... ;)
I hope the students could draw some new knowledge or newly initiated interest from my presentation and I am looking forward to the next challenge!
